Sky News host Peter Gleeson says “GetUp needs to be renamed as Gee up after the way they have taken their donors for a ride”. Mr Gleeson said the “bulk” of GetUp funds raised “are spent on staff salaries” which is “so typical of these charitable organisations”.
“They have an alliance with the Greens, the Labor Party, the unions and of course your ABC,” and “use clever marketing techniques to draw the weak and vulnerable,” he said.
“CEO Paul Oosting should have been sacked a long time ago… and now he’s been caught red-handed paying himself and his senior staff exorbitant salaries while pretending to preach Socialism as the answer.
“The Australian Electoral Commission needs to grow a set and enforce laws that require these political activists to declare all of their donors.”
