Music : John Bacchus Dykes, 1861
Reginald Heber was a servant of God, a bishop in the Anglican Church in the 1820s and also a composer of praise. He is the son of a landowner and a fairly well-known servant of God, and he is well known for his reputation at Oxford University as a poet. He did pastoral work, composed praise, and did literary work during his tenure. He served so many places in various parts of the United Kingdom, even to become bishop in Calcutta, India.
Heavy tasks, a climate that is not conducive, and ignorance of his health led to sudden death when he visited Tiruchirappalli at the age of 42 years.
A collection of compliments he composed were published after he died. One of them is "Holy, Holy, Holy", the praise that has been sung to this day. The lyrics of this praise speak specifically of reverence for the Triune God. John Bacchus Dykes composed the melody to compliment this in 1861.
It turned out that the song became very popular in England. This song was later used by almost all denominations of the church in England including by Catholics, Baptists and Methodists. The song was immediately popular in many churches in the world.
