No Dig beds, how they where built and how I intend to protect their crops.

No Dig beds, how they where built and how I intend to protect their crops. I am tired and fed up with using poor set ups to protect crops, using sticks, canes or hoops as supports with some mesh, fleece or plastic thrown over the top is okay and it does work, but it is not a perfect solution, sometimes it can be a right royal pain to get into some protected structures to weed, plant or harvest, sometimes a part of the structure will fail and birds or insects can get in and wreak havoc with your crops. I tried a large brassica frame for a few years and that was better than those mentioned above, but it had it's faults too.

Now I am going completely modular, I have made my 8 no dig beds all exactly the same size, perfectly level straight and true and they are all the same size, these will accept the modular protection frames I am to build that will be based on the traditional cold frame idea, with a twist.

They will mostly all be the same size with a couple taller than the others and will be covered either with polythene or environmesh, lids will be able to be swapped from frame to frame, frames can be stacked when more height is required and all of the frame will eventually be bolt and wingnut construction to allow easy take down and storage. Basically it is an idea spawned by my hot box that I use in the tunnels.
