Amazon is a catalog based system. There is one listing for every item and sellers are all shown on that listing, (unlike eBay where every seller has their own listing).
This makes it easier for buyers to find the right items and see all of the offers at one time.
As a seller, if you have an item and a listing already exists you can either click “sell on Amazon” and it will bring up the offer page or copy and paste the Asin. You then fill in your price, quantity and condition to list under that listing.
Pros to Jump On Listings
Now that we’ve gone over what jump on listings are let’s go over why you’d want to use this method in your business.
It's much quicker to put your offer an a listing that already exists rather than creating a new listing from scratch.
You have access to the product data beforehand. You can see the sale rank and use tools like jungle scout to know how many units are selling. You can see the amount of sellers and if this listing is worth jumping on.
Brand already has recognition, Listings already created selling under bigger brand
Cons to Jump On Listings
The first downside is that you have to deal with a lot more competition and almost anyone can find that listing jump on. This usually leads to a price war and prices can drop significantly.
The second main downside is that it’s harder to optimize a listing. Most wholesale listings are basic with a few photos, short title and limited bullet points and description. Harder to edit
Creating an offer
Take a wholesale price sheet with UPC codes.
Search by brand or item title in search query to find items. Go to the item detail page and click sell on Amazon. If you can’t find it, take asin and put it in the back end.
I use scan unlimited, find all of the listings, click it and do the same process.
Jump On Strategy
Sales Rank: Doesn’t really matter since we are not buying in bulk. You could be more thorough and pick items that have a lower sales rank.
Sellers: I list on an item even if it has more sellers.
Optimizing: You can optimize a wholesale listing. When you jump on a listing, you can’t edit it. In order to edit a listing you need to be the account who is allowed to do so. A way to get around this is by asking Amazon support to edit it for you. Amazon will do this because they want the best info for a listing. You can change photos, add more features, and edit the description. You provide the info and they will change it.
Reviews: I will not list on an item that has bad reviews. (multiple bad reviews)
Ways to get a leg up:

Exclusivity
Ungated
Optimizing: You can optimize a wholesale listing. Find listings that don’t have sellers or look bad and fix them up.
