“This virus tends to really pick out people who have compromised hearts and lungs and immune systems,” Professor McMillan told Sky News host Chris Smith.
Currently there are two deaths and 55 infections confirmed due to the disease within Australia.
“Not only our old but also some of our younger people who might have these sorts of pre-existing conditions are also venerable,” he said.
“Having a healthy diet and making sure you are fit are actually the two best things you can do … (and) basically the fitter you are and the more healthier you are, the more resistant you’ll be”.
